Sigma f1.2 art lens campaign

documentarians of life

director’s note

The Challenge

Sigma approached me to create imagery featuring its 35mm F1.2 DG II Art and 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art lenses. Rather than producing a traditional product review or a collection of technically perfect test images, the challenge was to communicate what makes these lenses special in a way viewers could immediately feel.

The Solution

I developed a documentary-driven visual story built around real life, family and the fleeting moments that often become meaningful only after they have passed.

The 35mm was used to establish place, atmosphere and context, while the 50mm brought the viewer closer to expressions, gestures and intimate details. By photographing both lenses within the same experiences, I demonstrated how they complement one another as storytelling tools.

Instead of explaining sharpness, depth of field and low-light performance through specifications, the campaign allowed the images to demonstrate those qualities naturally.

The result was a body of work that positioned the lenses as more than optical tools. They became a way to preserve the moments, relationships and memories that make a life meaningful.
