Before The Bell
Before the Bell captures the quiet ritual that comes before impact: a boxer pulling fabric tightly around his hands beneath the warm light of a garage. Curled fingers, looping fabric, deep shadows, and amber grain transform an ordinary act of preparation into something intimate and sculptural.
Printed on thick, museum-quality matte paper and shipped free within the United States.
THE STORY
Boxing is often photographed at the moment of impact. I was drawn to what happens before it—the repetition of wrapping each hand, checking the tension, and preparing the body and mind for the work ahead.
Made during a boxing session in a garage, this photograph holds that quieter moment: the concentration, discipline, and private ritual before the first punch is thrown. For me, it is less a photograph about fighting than it is a photograph about readiness.
