When God closes a door, here’s what happens:

One of the greatest challenges I have faced with self-employment is wondering which doors to open.

I have opened several doors, if not, dozens of doors.

I have mentally gone through my contact list to see if there is any sort of connection or opportunity to provide a service.

Some doors have opened, some have closed.

I think the challenge I am facing is, while I am trying to open doors, God is trying to close them.

Not all of them... just the ones that I shouldn’t walk through.

And here’s what is frustrating: the doors I want to remain open, keep closing.

He closes doors - not necessarily because He “wants to” - but rather, the path to which it leads isn’t one I need to traverse.

When God closes a door - at the same time - He is opening several more, including windows.

I say windows because windows are what let in the light.

Windows allow you to see what is coming. 

Windows are what help you to keep moving forward.

Windows are the glimpses of hope that you need to make it to the next open door.

I say all of this to iterate the fact that without guidance along wisdom’s path, it is near impossible to know where to go.

You need that guidance if you are too keep going and not get discouraged. 

We all need windows to see, and we all need doors to walk through.

When God closes a door, trust that He is opening another one, but sometimes, the door He just opened leads to tools and supplies so you can make your own door.

Sometimes the best doors are the ones we make for ourselves.

And don’t worry if you don’t know how to build it, there will be instructions. 

The Lord promises, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you (John 14:18).”

This I know to be absolutely true. 

When God closes a door, He is busy opening more, while at the same time, opening a window or two. 

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).”

As difficult as it may be to lean into God, you must learn to trust Him, for what else can you do?

He knows where the doors lead, and He knows which ones you need to walk through.

If you trust Him, He will open windows for you to see the path that lies ahead.

When you realize God is in control, you will spend less time trying to open closed doors and focus on spending more time trying to find the doors God has already opened for you.
