THE STORY
Most sports photographs attempt to freeze movement. For this image, I wanted to let the motion remain.
I made this photograph during the 35th Community First Fox Cities Marathon in Neenah, Wisconsin. By allowing the runner to move through the exposure, a single stride became something less literal and more universal.
The athlete’s identity disappears into the movement. What remains is the familiar rhythm of continuing forward—one foot, one stride, and one mile at a time.
