THE STORY
I’ve been on this road a dozen times, but never before had I taken this photograph.
I was inside my 06 Lexus GX 470. The sun had just set behind the mountains and for the first time, I noticed how the road curved through the trees. I intentionally kept the window frame and side mirror in the composition because I wanted the photograph to feel like a journey—not a view from a scenic overlook.
The Tetons pull the eye forward, while the road, passing trees, autumn color, and reflection keep you grounded in the present. It captures the anticipation of knowing you have not arrived yet, but you are already somewhere worth remembering.
